Safely Enjoy Your ATV With These Tips

ATV Safety 101

Heading out on the trail this summer to enjoy your ATV is one of the best ways to enjoy the season. Even while you are out enjoying the backroads, it is important that you make sure that you know how to stay safe. Keep these ATV safety tips in mind to ensure that you safely enjoy your ride.

  • Take a safety course – enrolling and passing a safety course can help to make sure that you know how to handle any incident that you may have to deal with on the trails. Look for a hands on safety training course that will better prepare you than any courses that you can find online.
  • Wear the right gear – when riding your ATV, the only thing between you and the road is your gear. Invest in quality gear that will keep you safe and protected in case of a crash. Look for a helmet that is certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation, as well as sturdy pants, boots, gloves, goggles, and jackets.
  • Avoid paved roads – since ATVs are designed for off road use, they should only be driven on dirt roads. ATV have a solid rear axle and no differential, which can make them very hard to control on paved roads.
  • Do not drive under the influence – just like drinking and driving a car is illegal, so is drinking and driving an ATV. Even one drink can impair your driving ability, so make sure to stay sober when you plan on heading out.

Most importantly, having the right ATV insurance policy will protect you from any unfortunate situation you have to deal with while on your next ride. Contact the insurance professionals at Alliance Group in Fairport, New York for all of your ATV insurance coverage needs this summer.

Stay Cool and Save Money This Summer With These Tips

Money Saving Cooling Tips

As summer continues, the outside temperatures begin to rise. While turning up your air conditioning is the easiest way to cool down, it will also cause your energy bill to increase dramatically. Luckily, there are many steps that you can take to help stay cool and save money. Keep these energy saving tips in mind to fully enjoy the summer season.

  • Turn on your fans – ceiling fans can help to circulate the air around your room, helping it feel a few degrees cooler. However, it is important to keep in mind that your fans will not actually lower the temperature in your house, so turn off your fans when you leave a room to cut down on your energy costs.
  • Ventilate – opening your doors and windows to create a cross breeze in your house is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways to cool your house down. Opening your doors and windows in the evening and early morning when the temperatures are the lowest is the best way to cool down. Just make sure to remember to close everything that is open when the sun starts to come up.
  • Consider big projects – if it is in your budget, making renovations to your house can make it more energy efficient all year round. Sealing any cracks around your windows and doors can keep your home air tight. Also, check to ensure that your walls and attic are properly insulated and consider adding extra insulation to keep your house at a comfortable temperature during the hot summer months.

As the temperatures heat up, it is also the perfect time to check your homeowners insurance to ensure that you are protected from any unfortunate situation this season. Contact Alliance group in Fairport, New York for all of your home insurance coverage needs.

Simple Tips to Stay Safe This Summer

Summer Safety 101

As the weather continues to warm up for summer, you may find yourself spending much more time outdoors with the whole family. While getting some fresh air can be good for your health, there are also many dangers associated with the outdoors. Keep these summer safety tips in mind to ensure that everyone has a safe and fun summer vacation.

  • Cover your head – if you are going on a family bike ride, or your kids are riding their scooters down the street, always make sure to wear well-fitting helmets. Ensure that you have enough helmets for everyone in your family! Mark helmets with your child’s name to ensure that every kid grabs the right helmet when it comes time to head out.
  • Beware of the sun – as the sun shines for more hours each day, it is important to make sure that you protect yourself and your family. Whenever you are headed outside, always put on sunscreen that has at least 15 SPF. Also, bring a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses. If you will be outside for an extended period of time, try to find shade to sit under.
  • Consider water safety – there is no better way to cool down during the summer than taking a dip in your backyard pool. Make sure that children always have the proper supervision when swimming, and those who do not have strong swimming skills wear the proper safety equipment, such as a life jacket. Installing a locking fence around your pool can help to keep children safe this summer.

It is also important to make sure that you look over your insurance policies to ensure that you have the right amount of coverage for any unfortunate situation that you may run into. Contact Alliance Group in Fairport, New York for all of your insurance policy needs.

Boating Essentials For Your Next Boat Trip

SailingWhat to Bring on Your Boat

There is no better way to take advantage of the warm spring and summer temperatures than heading out on the water for a day of boating. While getting ready for a full day of boating can seem tireless, the payoff is worth it. Before you back down the launch ramp, make sure to gather these boating essentials.

  • Registration – just like your car, you need to carry a valid boat registration with you at all times while you are out on the water.
  • Life jackets – you are required to have as many life jackets on board as people. Before you launch your boat, make sure that you have a life jacket that will properly fit everyone.
  • Waterproof camera – you are sure to see many beautiful sights while on the water that you may want to capture, as well as documenting fun family activities. Bringing a waterproof camera can help to make sure that you are able to document these moments without worrying about your camera breaking.
  • Cooler – stock your cooler with plenty of water and snacks to keep you hydrated and satisfied while on the water. If you are planning on catching fish, make sure to bring a designated cooler to keep the fish in.
  • Marine radio – while out on the water, you may not be able to get cell phone reception. If you get stuck or break down, a marine radio can be all that you have to call for help.
  • Fire extinguisher – you are required to keep a fire extinguisher on your boat at all times. Make sure that everyone on board knows how to properly use it.
  • Sunscreen – with the bright spring and summer sun, it is easy to get sunburnt while on the water all day. Sunscreen will protect you from a dangerous and painful sunburn.

It is also important to look over your boat insurance policy to make sure that you have the right amount of protection. Contact Alliance Group in Fairport, New York for all of your boat insurance coverage needs.

10 Tips to Throw the Best Summer BBQ

Summer is the perfect time to spend with friends and family and cook up a delicious meal on the grill.  To throw the best barbecue this summer, keep these 10 tips in mind:

  1. Pick a theme.  Select a theme and carry it through from the decorations to the food.
  2. Bring the entertainment.   While spending time with friends is fun, your barbecue will be an even bigger hit if you provide entertainment with a good sound system and classic backyard games.
  3. Think past the burger.  While hot dogs and burgers are great classic barbecue foods, make sure to expand and grill some seafood and vegetables.
  4. Keep it safe.  Keep in mind that barbecues have an open flame.  Make sure to take the proper safety precautions, such as keeping a fire extinguisher nearby when grilling.
  5. Let your meat be.  Moving your food around on the grill too much can interfere with the cooking process and the flavor.
  6. Let your meat sit.  Once your meat comes off the grill, give it time to sit.  Keep in mind that the meat will continue to cook after you take it off, so make sure to plan ahead and pull it off early.
  7. Choose your fuel.  Natural charcoal or wood chunks, such as apple, cherry, hickory, cedar, birch, or maple can all give food a distinct flavor.
  8. Start the day before.  While your guests may not be showing up for at least 24 hours, planning ahead and marinating your meat for at least 24 hours can give the food great flavor.
  9. Think about the drinks.  While you may like a margarita, some of your guests may prefer to have sparkling water or juice.  Make sure to have enough options for everyone.
  10. Do not be cheap.  The price of your food will be apparent in the flavor, so the cheaper you go, the less flavor your dish will have.

The Alliance Group encourages everyone to spend time with their loved ones around the grill this summer, and reminds you to contact them with all of your insurance coverage needs in New York.
